Applicants can pass the Rhode Island Bar Exam in two ways. First, an
applicant passes if he or she attains a scaled score
of at least 140 on the MBE and at least 7 out of 12
on the essay portion. Second, an applicant
passes if he or she attains a scaled score of at
least 135 on the MBE and scores at least 9 out of 12
on the essay portion.
